Conservation is our mission
Our conservation efforts inspired more than 23 million guests in 2013 to celebrate and protect the natural world. Our parks’ commitment to research and conservation also has led to advances in the care of animals in both zoological facilities and wild populations worldwide.
We can all make a difference
We focus our support for conservation in four areas:
- The rescue of ill, orphaned, and injured animals – Get a glimpse at just a few of the more than 26,000 animals SeaWorld has helped rescue over the past five decades.
- Supporting research – Research is a key component of SeaWorld®’s larger commitment to conservation and animal welfare, and was established as a priority by our founders nearly five decades ago. This commitment includes publishing our own research, sharing our parks and animals as controlled research environments, and funding and supporting projects around the world. See more here.
- Funding and direct action in conservation – We have spent millions of dollars conserving wild animals and wild places, as well as supporting critical conservation work on every continent. We partner with and support numerous organizations including National Wildlife Federation, World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy. - Education and interpretation of animals – We inspire and educate millions of guests who visit our parks each year, instilling a heightened sensitivity to the world around them, especially the plights of animals in the wild. We encourage guests to care about the world and animals through up-close animal encounters, educational exhibits and innovative entertainment that inspires. Learn more here.
The SeaWorld® & Busch Gardens® Conservation Fund is just one way our guests can get involved. The Fund supports wildlife research, habitat protection, animal rescue and conservation education in the U.S. and countries all over the world.
The Fund provides an outlet for park visitors to help protect wildlife and, because SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment provides all administrative and development costs as well as staffing and infrastructure, commits 100 percent of donations to on-the-ground wildlife conservation efforts.
