I’d like to introduce you to the youngest member of the SeaWorld Orlando pod!

Makaio was born on Oct. 9, 2010 to Katina, and like most young orcas, he is wide-eyed and curious. Makaio loves tactile toys that resemble kelp beds, and also enjoys playing on the slide-overs that connect the pools in the killer whale habitat at SeaWorld Orlando. One of the things Makaio seems to like the most is to sit still while I give him a nice long back-rub or belly-rub.

When Makaio isn’t interacting with park guests or enjoying a good belly rub, he can be seen with his mother Katina and his older sister Nalani. Chances are that if you’ve seen Makaio at SeaWorld Orlando, you’ve seen him playing with Nalani and maybe even sharing a toy or two. Makaio has been a very quick learner and his participation in the shows is increasing.
